China: Fresh dragon fruit for sale in a market in Haikou, Hainan Province

A pitaya or pitahaya is the fruit of several cactus species.

'Pitaya' usually refers to fruit of the genus Stenocereus, while 'pitahaya' or 'dragon fruit' always refers to fruit of the genus Hylocereus.

Haikou is the capital of Hainan province. Hainan Island is the smallest province in China.
