Thailand: Wat Sorasak, Sukhothai Historical Park

Wat Sorasak was built in the early 15th century and is renowned for the 24 elephants that surround the base of the Sri Lankan-style chedi. Sukhothai, which literally means 'Dawn of Happiness', was the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom and was founded in 1238. It was the capital of the Thai Empire for approximately 140 years.
