Indonesia: Artjoeno Mountains near Pasuran, eastern Java, late 18th century

Pasuruan or Pasoeroean is a city in eastern Java, Indonesia, on the Madura Strait. Established by the Dutch in 1707, it remains an active seaport. It has shipyards, sugar and rice mills, and various factories.
