Turkey: Ink-on-paper drawing of a dragon, anon., c. late 17th century
This representation of a dragon is stylistically similar to the 16th century Siyah Kalem school associated with Central Asia and the 'Conqueror Albums' of the Topkapi Sarai in Istanbul.
Yet although related to the Siyah Kalem tradition, the dragon has evolved to be more typically Persian-Islamic in style, while traces of Chinese influence have diminshed.
