Vietnam / Cambodia: A Viet (Kinh) Deputy Governor of Cambodia, c. 1828, during the reign of Nguyen Dynasty Emperor Minh Mang (r.1820-1841)

During the late 18th and early 19th century eastern Cambodia was subject to Vietnamese suzerainty. Vietnamese emperor, Minh Mang attempted unsuccessfully to force the Cambodians to adopt Vietnamese customs, mores and dress.
