Vietnam: 'Trio des mousmés' (three young Japanese women), Saigon, c.1905.
In French Indochina the now archaic term 'mousmé' was applied to Japanese women, generally 'horizontales' or prostitutes, working in the colony. The term was apparently derived from the Japanese for a young or teenage girl.
