Japan: General Tomoyuki Yamashita (November 8, 1885 – February 23, 1946).
General Tomoyuki Yamashita was a general of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. He was most famous for conquering the British colonies of Malaya and Singapore, earning the nickname 'The Tiger of Malaya'. He served in Manchuria and North China as well as the Philippines. In 1945 he was convicted of war crimes, and on 23 February 1946, at Los Baños, Laguna Prison Camp, 30 miles (48 km) south of Manila, Yamashita was hanged.
